Someone talking in the background, music you cannot use, or a clip that should just be silent. Drop the video in and get it back without any sound — the picture is not touched, not re-encoded and not made worse.
Muting a video does not need the picture to be re-encoded, so we do not. The video stream is copied across bit for bit and only the audio track is dropped. That means it finishes in seconds even for a long clip, and the result looks exactly like what you put in — no second-generation blur.
Copyright claims on background music are the usual reason: a silent clip cannot be flagged for a song. Beyond that it is the quickest way to kill a noisy recording before you put your own voice-over on it, or to hand over a screen recording without whatever was said while making it.
This tool is one of the exceptions on this site. The image converters here run entirely inside your browser and never send anything to us. Video containers cannot be rewritten in a browser, so your file is uploaded to our own machine, muted there, and deleted immediately afterwards — we keep no copy.
