Everything is fitted to the size of your first clip: later clips are scaled to fit and get black bars where the shape differs, instead of being stretched. So put the clip whose look you want first, and phone clips filmed sideways won't turn the whole film sideways.
Clips play in the order you pick them in the file dialog — hold Ctrl (or Cmd on a Mac) and click them in the order you want. Sound is carried over from every clip; a clip without sound gets silence for its part rather than breaking the result.
The result is a standard MP4 that plays everywhere. Need it smaller afterwards? Compress it to a target size; need it another shape, resize it.
