Speeding a GIF up
To speed up a GIF, pick 1.5×, 2× or 4×: the same frames play in less time, and a GIF speed up keeps up to 30 frames per second, so a very fast GIF loses some in-between frames. That works for animated GIF stickers or a looping meme, and to speed up GIFs in bulk you run them through one at a time. For a faster GIF on Discord, 1.5× or 2× usually does it; to speed up GIF files that already feel quick, try your own value of 1.25×. It is also how to make GIFs feel snappier for a preview or a loading animation, and 2× or 4× gives a fast forward effect GIF. The fastest GIF you get in one pass is 4×; to speed up animated GIF loops further, run the result through again, or make GIF timing even quicker that way.
Slowing a GIF down
To slow down a GIF, pick 0.5× or 0.75×, or type a value down to 0.25×. A GIF slow down works the same for a reaction GIF as for a screen recording: slow down GIF playback to study a move, slow down animated GIF instructions, or make a GIF slower so a caption can be read. A slow GIF is the same frames, each shown longer, which is what people mean by a slow mo GIF or slow motion GIF; a GIF slow enough to follow is often all a tutorial needs. It can't invent in-between frames, though, so a GIF with few frames looks steppy when slowed right down.
Frame rate, not frame count
To change GIF speed is to change the frame rate GIF players use, not the number of frames: change speed of GIF files and the animated GIF speed changes, the frame count doesn't. So it works as a frame rate changer too, indirectly: pick a speed and the frame rate follows. It isn't a full GIF editor: to edit GIF size or direction, use the resize or reverse pages. How do I speed up a GIF?
Pick 1.5×, 2× or 4× from the list and download: every frame is re-timed to match (the result plays at up to 30 frames per second), and you get back a real, moving GIF that stays smooth. For more than 4×, run the result through again.
How do I slow down a GIF that plays too fast?
Pick 0.5× (half speed) or 0.75×, or type your own value down to 0.25×. The GIF plays slower but keeps every frame; nothing is skipped, each frame just shows longer.

Does changing the speed lose quality or add colour banding?
No: the output gets a colour palette built from your own GIF, not a generic web palette, which is what usually causes banding.
What happens to my GIF?
It's uploaded to our own server, processed there, and deleted the instant the job finishes. Nothing is kept or looked at. The one exception: if you choose to send us a file yourself, we keep it for at most 30 days and one person on our team looks at it. Even then it is never shared or used for training.
Can I change the speed of a GIF on my phone?

Does the result keep looping?
Yes: the speed change is applied to every frame, so the loop keeps playing exactly as before, just faster or slower.
Can I make a GIF wider than 1280 pixels this way?
No: like every GIF tool here, the result is capped at about 1280 pixels wide. A GIF that starts under that width stays exact.
Can I use this to change the speed of a bouncing GIF?
Yes: it doesn't matter what the animation shows. Speed bouncing gif files up or down the same way as any other GIF: pick a multiplier and download.
Is this also a GIF color changer, or does it only change speed?
Only speed: there's no hue shift, filter or palette swap here, and no tool on this site recolours a GIF on purpose. The palette is rebuilt from your own file during the speed change, which is why colours don't wash out, but that's a side effect, not a colour editor.
Does changing the speed change the GIF frame rate?
Yes: to increase GIF speed is to raise the GIF frame rate, since the same frames cover less time. So it's a GIF frame rate changer indirectly; to accelerate GIF playback, the frame rate goes up, and a GIF faster than about 50 fps gets capped by browsers.
Is it a GIF speed editor or a full GIF editor?
A GIF speed editor (also known as a GIF speed adjuster) with one control. To edit GIF speed, pick a multiplier. Most GIF editor speed controls live inside a full editor; this speed adjuster, a speed increaser and slower in one, is just that. It works on a clip of any length up to 20 minutes, and on a GIF fast or slow to begin with; to increase GIF length instead, you'd need an editor.
