A normal image is a grid of pixels; an SVG is a set of shapes. Vectorizing traces the areas and edges in your image and rebuilds them as paths — so the result scales to a business card or a billboard without going blurry, opens in Illustrator and Inkscape as editable shapes, and drives cutting machines. It is the “vector file” that print shops keep asking for.
