HEIC to JPG ConvertNinja vs CloudConvert, Canva, Adobe Express, iLoveIMG
The four tools checked (ConvertNinja, CloudConvert, Adobe Express and iLoveIMG) turn an iPhone HEIC photo into a JPG for free; Canva was not checked. They differ in where the file goes, what the free tier limits, and whether you need an account. Below is what each tool's own page says, checked 26 October 2026.
Convert your HEIC photos to JPG now โ (runs in your browser, no upload, no account). JPEG and JPG are the same format, so "HEIC to JPEG" is the same job.

Competitor columns come from each tool's own page on 26 October 2026. "Not stated" means the page does not say, not that the answer is no. Canva's converter page returned an error to our check, so that column is empty on purpose; open Canva to see its current terms.
What the differences mean for HEIC photos
- Privacy: a photo from your camera roll can hold a location and a date. A converter that runs in the browser, like ours, never sends that file anywhere. Adobe Express says on its page that files are uploaded; we did not check what the other tools do with the file.
- Batches: a trip of 200 photos is where per-day limits matter. CloudConvert counts conversions per day on the free plan; ConvertNinja has no daily count.
- Size: a single HEIC from an iPhone is a few megabytes, so Adobe Express's 40 MB cap rarely matters for photos. It matters more for big multi-image files.
- One tool or many: If conversion is only one step inside a larger design job, an editor you already use, such as Adobe Express, may be simpler.
Where the others are better
- CloudConvert: files up to 1 GB on its free plan (source).
- Adobe Express: you can edit and design right after converting, in the same place.
- iLoveIMG: converts several HEIC photos at once, per its own page.
Best for
- ConvertNinja: converting HEIC to JPG without uploading, without an account, in batches.
- CloudConvert: a very large file (up to 1 GB free).
- Adobe Express: convert and keep designing.
- iLoveIMG: several HEIC photos at once, without ConvertNinja.

Common questions
Which is the best free HEIC to JPG converter?
It depends what you need. For a handful of photos with no upload, ConvertNinja converts inside your browser. CloudConvert suits larger files (1 GB, 10 conversions a day free). Adobe Express is free with no stated file-count limit and takes files up to 40 MB. iLoveIMG converts several photos at once.
Is HEIC to JPEG different from HEIC to JPG?
No. JPEG and JPG are the same format; the three-letter .jpg extension is a leftover from older systems. Every converter on this page produces the same kind of file.
Does ConvertNinja upload my HEIC photos?
No. The conversion runs in your browser tab, so the photos stay on your device. Adobe Express says on its page that files are uploaded; we did not check where other converters process them.
Are the other converters really free?
Their pages say so, with limits. CloudConvert's free plan is 10 conversions a day and 1 GB per file. Adobe Express says there is no limit to the number of HEIC files, up to 40 MB each. iLoveIMG's page says free but states no numeric limits. Canva: not checked, because its page blocked our check.
When should I use something other than ConvertNinja?
When you need a file bigger than your device's memory can take, or you already live in Adobe Express for the rest of the edit.
