The result is re-encoded with its own colour palette instead of a generic web palette, so flat colours and gradients keep their edges instead of turning into bands.
GIFs wider than about 1280 pixels after the crop come back scaled down to fit that width, proportions kept: measured directly against this tool, not assumed. Most GIFs people crop (memes, stickers, short clips) sit well under that, so this rarely shows up in practice.
How to crop a GIF
- Drop the GIF on the box above.

Most avatar and sticker slots want a square. To make GIF square, use the height as both numbers; it works as a square GIF maker for avatars and for a GIF square enough for Discord. Use the source height as both width and height, and start halfway across the extra width: a 480x270 GIF becomes 270x270 starting 105 from the left. That stays under the 1280px note above for any source up to 1280x1280, so square crops come out exact.
Discord sizes
Discord's profile banner is 680x240 pixels (an animated banner needs Nitro), a sticker is 320x320 and an emoji 128x128. Cropping cuts, it doesn't scale to a target size, so for a banner from a bigger GIF: crop to the same shape first (for example 1020x360, which is 680x240 times one and a half), then resize the GIF to the exact size. Discord also has file-size limits for stickers and emoji, so keep those GIFs short.
