Every converter here is free, full size, no account. Photos convert in your browser and never leave it, except camera RAW files and SVG tracing. Those, like video, audio and e-books, need our server — and we delete them right after.
A Kindle can't open an EPUB copied onto it, and EPUB is the format almost everything else uses: bookstores, library apps, Kobo and most other e-readers. For copying a book to a Kindle over USB, older Kindles want MOBI and current ones do best with AZW3, which keeps more of the original formatting. (Sending by e-mail is different: Amazon's Send to Kindle now takes EPUB directly and converts it itself.)
EPUB or MOBI? EPUB for everything except a Kindle; for a Kindle over USB, an ebook MOBI (or AZW3) file. As a Kindle ebook converter it outputs both, so converting ebook to Kindle formats is just picking one of them.

How to convert an e-book here: drop the file in, pick the format, download. There's no file convert software to install; Calibre does the work on our server, so it runs the same way on Windows, Mac, Linux or a phone. How can I convert an e-book without installing Calibre? Exactly like that.
A browser cannot rewrite an e-book's internals into another format, so your file is uploaded to our server, converted there and deleted right after. We keep no copy. The video compressor and the other video tools work the same way; photos (HEIC, PNG, WEBP, JPG) convert entirely in your browser. Books with DRM (copy protection) can't be converted.
Limits: up to 100 MB per file. Two convert at a time, so at busy moments you may wait a moment for your turn.
Kindle-bound specifically? EPUB to MOBI is the same converter, pre-set for that one job. Need a fixed page layout instead — for a comic or a textbook? EPUB to PDF does that.

Yes, in either direction between any of the five formats. A scanned PDF (a photo of each page) won't convert well, since there is no real text to extract; a PDF made from text converts cleanly. To convert PDF files from a scanner into something readable, run them through OCR first.
