Every converter here is free, full size, no account.Photos convert in your browser and never leave it. Video and e-books do need our server — those we delete right after.

FreeConvert's free plan gives you 20 conversion minutes a day — its own pricing page says so. Burn through those on one video and the rest of your day is spent waiting or paying. ConvertNinja does not meter minutes: the video compressor below runs as many times as you need, up to 400 MB and 20 min a file.

What FreeConvert's free tier actually gives you

Checked on FreeConvert's own pricing page (05-08): free web use is capped at 20 conversion minutes per day, with a further limit of 5 minutes per file. That is a minutes budget, not a file-count budget — a couple of longer videos or a big batch of audio and you are done for the day, whether you used ten files or one. Paid tiers remove the cap; their cheapest plan raises the file-size ceiling to 1.5 GB, which only matters once the minutes are the problem you actually hit first.

None of that is a knock on FreeConvert — it converts far more formats than we do, all in one place, and that breadth costs them server time they have to ration somehow. It just means the free tier is built for the odd file, not for someone converting or compressing things regularly.

Where ConvertNinja is actually different

That is the honest scope, not a bigger version of FreeConvert: we do two things — image conversion and video compression — instead of the hundreds of formats FreeConvert handles. If you need something outside that, FreeConvert (or another dedicated converter) is still the right tool.

About your file, honestly

The photo converters — HEIC, JPG, PNG, WebP — never leave your device; the browser does the work, so there is nothing to meter and nothing uploaded. The video compressor is the exception on this site: your clip is uploaded to our own machine, compressed there up to 400 MB and 20 min, and deleted right after — we keep no copy. Two videos process at a time, so at busy moments you may wait a moment for your turn, but never until tomorrow.

The tools this page compares to FreeConvert: HEIC to JPG and PNG to JPG run entirely in your browser, and video compression is the one honest exception, described above.

A different kind of broken file — if what won't open is a PDF, not an image, ScanReviver's repair PDF rebuilds one that's corrupted, cut off mid-download or throwing a viewer error.

Need to edit the text inside a PDF instead of just fix it? ScanReviver's PDF to Word turns it into an editable document.

Common questions

What are FreeConvert's free-plan limits?

Checked on FreeConvert's own pricing page (05-08): 20 conversion minutes a day for web use, with a 5-minute-per-file cap inside that. Paid plans remove the daily cap and raise the per-file size ceiling.

Does ConvertNinja have a daily limit?

No minute counter on either tool. The video compressor takes files up to 400 MB and runs two at a time, so at busy moments you wait a moment rather than until the next day.

Is my file uploaded?

Depends which tool. HEIC, JPG, PNG and WebP conversion happens entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Video compression is the exception: your clip goes to our own machine, gets compressed and is deleted right after.

Does ConvertNinja do everything FreeConvert does?

No, and we are not claiming to. FreeConvert converts hundreds of formats; we do image conversion and video compression. For anything outside that, FreeConvert or another dedicated converter is still the right call.

Is it free?

Yes — no account, no watermark, no per-file charge. Ads keep the machine running.

What if the file itself is damaged, not just the wrong format?

Different kind of broken, different tool: a corrupted video or image needs re-encoding or conversion like this. A physically damaged old photo — water stains, tears, faded colour — needs reconstruction instead. PicReviver's water-damage restorer handles that case, also free.
