Drop in an animated GIF and get an MP4 back — usually five to ten times smaller with no visible difference.
WEBM, MOV and MKV are in the list too. No account, no watermark.

Every converter here is free, full size, no account. Photos convert in your browser and never leave it, except camera RAW files and SVG tracing. Those, like video, audio and e-books, need our server — and we delete them right after.
How to convert GIF to MP4: drop the GIF in, leave the menu on MP4, and the MP4 download starts when it's ready. Every frame carries over, so you can convert animated GIF to MP4 without losing any of the motion. The conversion runs on our server, so it works the same from a phone as from a computer, and there's no app to install.
A GIF stores every frame in full. An MP4 stores the first frame and then only what changed — and in most animations the background does not change at all. That is where the five to ten times comes from, and it is also why a GIF of a mostly-still scene shrinks the most.
On top of that a GIF is limited to 256 colours per frame, so an MP4 usually looks better as well as being smaller. Gradients stop banding.
Want to convert from MP4 to GIF instead? That's the opposite job: VideoBGNinja's video to GIF tool turns an MP4 to animated GIF with control over length, width and frame rate, free and without a watermark. Use it as a GIF generator to make GIF stickers and banners for Discord too. Ezgif MP4 to GIF and CloudConvert MP4 to GIF do the same. So does any free online MP4 to GIF converter. For Discord, that tool doubles as a Discord GIF converter, turning MP4 to Discord GIF sizes. Just make sure you pick an MP4 to GIF converter: this page only goes GIF in, MP4 out.
The Ezgif GIF to MP4 converter and CloudConvert GIF to MP4 do the same conversion on their servers. And ffmpeg GIF to MP4 does it on your own computer if you're comfortable with a command line; FreeConvert GIF tools work on a server too. This online GIF to MP4 converter sits in between: nothing to install, no account, and files up to 1200 MB. It converts one file at a time, so a folder of GIFs means dropping them in one after another.
A GIF to MP4 loop isn't automatic: an MP4 doesn't loop by itself, looping is up to the player. On your own web page, add the loop attribute to the video tag and it plays on repeat like the GIF did. Most social sites loop short clips automatically.
Twitter/X and Reddit turn an uploaded GIF into a video behind the scenes anyway. Uploading the MP4 yourself skips their conversion and their quality settings; converting files to MP4 online first means you choose how it looks, not the platform. E-mail is the other one: a five-megabyte GIF often bounces where a six-hundred-kilobyte MP4 goes straight through, and converting it here first fixes that.
Where a GIF still wins: anywhere the thing has to play by itself with no player controls and no click — some e-mail clients, some old forums, and chat apps that treat GIFs as stickers.
Got the GIF from Twitter, Tenor, Reddit or Discord? Save it to your device first and drop the file here: this page can't fetch anything from a link. A Twitter GIF to MP4 or a Tenor GIF to MP4 conversion starts that way. A Reddit GIF to MP4 works identically, and the GIF to MP4 download lands like any other file.
One honest limit: a transparent background doesn't survive, since MP4 has no transparency, so an MP4 transparent background isn't possible. A GIF without background (a see-through one) loses that on the way. Transparent pixels usually come out as a black background, so check the result before you rely on it.
WEBM is smaller again than MP4 and plays in every current browser, but not in older desktop players. MOV is what Apple software and most editing programs prefer. MKV is a container that keeps everything you throw at it and is the safest choice if the file is going into an archive rather than onto a website. So it doubles as a small GIF to movie converter: MP4 for sharing, MOV for editing, MKV for keeping.
This conversion runs on our own machine, not in your browser, like every video tool here. Your file is deleted the moment the result is ready. Limit: 1200 MB per upload.
Converting between other video formats instead? Convert video format handles MP4, MOV, WebM and more. Only need to cut it down first? Trim a video keeps just the part that matters. Just need the GIF itself smaller, no format change? GIF compressor shrinks it in the browser, nothing uploaded.
Usually five to ten times. An animation with a still background shrinks the most, because the video only stores what changed between frames.
Usually better. A GIF is limited to 256 colours per frame, an MP4 is not, so gradients and skies stop banding.
Looping is up to the player, not the file. On a web page add the loop attribute to the video tag; most social sites loop short clips by default.
Yes: the video to GIF tool does that, with control over the seconds, width and frame rate. Going back and forth costs a little quality each time, so keep the original GIF if you might need it.
Yes: a GIF to MP4 converter free of accounts, watermarks and daily limits, so you can convert GIF to MP4 free as often as you like, and nothing is added to the file. As a free converter for other video formats too, it doubles as an MP4 converter free online for WEBM, MOV and MKV. Like any converter that runs on a server it has a size cap, 1200 MB per file.
Yes. A browser cannot rewrite a video container, so this runs on our machine and the file is deleted right after.
Drop the GIF onto this page and the MP4 is ready in seconds; the conversion runs on our server and the file is deleted immediately after. Spanish, Portuguese and Italian write it as GIF a MP4; same box.
Yes, in any modern browser, Safari or Chrome on iPhone and Android: pick the GIF and download the video. GIFs from a chat app need saving to your phone first.
No: WEBM, MOV and MKV are in the menu too. MP4 is the default because it plays everywhere.
1200 MB per upload, which no normal GIF comes near. If a GIF is huge, trim a video version of it first or compress the GIF.
It re-encodes the animation as a proper video: colour depth goes from 256 colours per frame to full colour, so the banding disappears, and the file usually shrinks five to ten times. For a clip on a website or in an e-mail, that is the whole point.
No: GIF to MP4 transparent background areas turn solid, because MP4 has no transparency. For a Discord banner GIF, keep it as a GIF. As a GIF to MP4 converter online, and a file converter for short loops, it's best for sharing clips where MP4 plays better.
