GIFs wider than about 1280 pixels after cutting come back scaled down to fit that width, proportions kept: the same limit as every other GIF tool on this site.
Cutting in time doesn't touch the frame dimensions or the colours, only the length. Frames outside the window are removed; the GIF frames you keep stay exactly as they were.

About your file
A browser can't re-encode a GIF's frames, so it's uploaded to our own server, cut there, and deleted the moment the job finishes: we keep no copy. Limit: 1200 MB and 20 minutes of source length.
Seconds, not frames or megabytes
The two numbers are seconds, with decimals allowed, so 1.5 works. There's no mode that targets an exact file size, but a shorter clip is naturally a smaller file: to get a GIF under an upload limit, trim GIF length first, then resize it if it's still too big. As a gif trimmer online it treats a screen recording, a meme or a GIF video clip from Tenor the same way; to clip GIF footage or shorten GIF files for Discord, it's the same two numbers. How do I cut a gif online?

Does cutting lose quality or add colour banding?
No: the output gets a colour palette built from your own GIF, not a generic web palette, which is what usually causes banding.
What happens to my GIF?
It's uploaded to our own server, cut there, and deleted the instant the job finishes. Nothing is kept or looked at. The one exception: if you choose to send us a file yourself, we keep it for at most 30 days and one person on our team looks at it. Even then it is never shared or used for training.
Does the trimmed GIF still loop?
Yes: the cut piece keeps looping exactly like the original did.
Can I cut a wide or tall GIF?
Up to about 1280 pixels wide, yes: exactly. Beyond that the result is scaled down to fit 1280px, proportions kept.
How is this different from cropping?
Cutting shortens the GIF in time: you keep the whole frame, less of the loop. Cropping keeps the whole loop and removes part of the frame. Crop GIF does that instead.

How do I know which seconds to keep?
Open the GIF in your browser or a video player that shows time, note where the part you want starts and ends, and type those numbers. Got it slightly wrong? Run it again; the original isn't changed.
Can I cut out the middle and keep both ends?
Not in one pass: the tool keeps one window. Cut the first part and the last part separately; joining two GIFs back together needs a GIF editor.
How to shorten a GIF without losing the loop?
Trim a GIF from either end: to shorten GIF length, move the start and end seconds, and the loop stays. To make GIF shorter for Discord, cut GIF length first and resize after.
Can I cut GIF duration in frames instead of seconds?
No, in seconds only (decimals allowed). You cut duration of GIF files the same way every time, and the GIF duration you keep is exactly the window you type. Used as a GIF duration cutter, it only removes what falls outside it.
Does it cut frames from GIF files, or re-time them?
It removes whole frames outside your window and leaves the rest exactly as they were; it won't cut GIF frames out of the middle. No GIF frame cutter mode picks single frames: you pick seconds.
Can I cut animated GIF files online?
Yes: you can cut animated GIF files here and the result keeps looping. Cut GIF online from any browser; every GIF cut online follows the same two steps. To cut out GIF footage you want to keep, set the seconds around it.
Is this a GIF clipper or a GIF length editor?
Both names fit: the cutter (also known as a GIF clipper) is a GIF length editor, not a full editor. Clipping GIF files down to size takes the same two numbers, and to trim a screen recording works the same: a cut screen GIF is just a shorter file. Does the GIF cutter change the size?
The GIF cutter size stays the same in pixels: cutting only shortens the loop. The file gets smaller because there are fewer frames.
